The bellwether of America, the national transportation hub, Prairie State, the homeland of jazz, the home state of Chicago Cubs, the microcosm of America – we could go on forever just introducing Illinois.
Illinois is crazy about politics – four American presidents came from here, including Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama. The state’s capital Springfield is home to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (as well as his house and his tomb). Political pride is unparalleled: Illinois got the slogan of Land of Lincoln. But of course you won’t visit Springfield first, ‘cause there’s Chicago!
The biggest city in Illinois (third biggest in the US), the romantic trope for gangster city, and where all the finest cultural and business opportunities lie. Agriculture is the thing in Illinois, from corn to cattle. Energy business and manufacturing are even bigger. Six of Illinois universities are in the top 500 National Universities including University of Chicago and Northwestern University. The state is thing-in-itself (a solid place to live in case a zombie apocalypse strikes).
